How registrants can add a link at the top of their The Knot website leading to their registry at your store.
April 26, 2024
Your Shop Local Store has a new feature: Your registrants can now share their registry at your store on The Knot more easily.
By default, The Knot lists manually added registries at the bottom of the page. The Knot lists registries from big-box names, like Target and Crate & Barrel, at the top of the page. Unfortunately, this makes it harder for gift givers to find your store in a registrant's list of registries.
There isn’t a way to change the page order to have the ...

Bridge helps 1,000 indie stores offer gift registries. We've handled 70,000 registries. One trend we've noticed over the year is The Knot, a leading wedding website provider, is minimizing sales opportunities for indie stores. The Knot has created partnerships with big-box players, including Crate & Barrel, Macy's, Bloomingdale's, and Amazon, and relegated the indie stores to the bottom of the bride's page.
In this example, we see the indie stores displayed at the very bottom ...

I think that Zola, an online provider of gift registries, may be harming local stores. Zola allows brides to pick things from any site, such as an indie store’s gift registry. Zola may then encourage the registrant to bypass that local store and use those gift funds with Zola. This is an issue because Zola has handled more than 650,000 registries, and its revenue is estimated to be $130m. Millions of dollars may have been diverted away from indie, brick-and-mortar stores to Zola&rsquo...

Here’s a new idea: a wedding website after the event can become a ‘thank you’ site and share what happened. This idea and more can be gleamed from this weekend’s Times article about building a wedding website.
The Times suggests a couple could self-host a website and have a website designer custom build it, but I’d highly discourage that as it’s very time consuming and expensive. Aren’t weddings already enough of this? :) Using a wedding site platform that is hosted by the provider is the way to ...

How can you better understand your website?
Imagine that your website is a digital version of your physical store. In this graphic, I compare your roof to your website's meta data, your sidewalk to your wedding website traffic, and your store window to your home page's slides.
Heres how your store compares to your website:
1. Sidewalk = Small websites and blogs that lead to your website such as local newspaper sites, local community groups, and wedding websites. These sites provide ‘foot traffic....

How successful is your 5-step incentive program for brides? In at least 94% of registries, stores benefited. In just 6% of cases did a bride complete all the 5 steps and the store gave the bride an in-store gift card.
Notably, even when a bride does complete all 5 steps and receives the in-store gift card, the store still wins because the bride provided publicity for the store, helped the store's Google ranking, and likely directed $1,000s worth of business to the store.

SOME PEOPLE READ COOKBOOKS OR mystery novels. I read bridal registries. In my consulting gig for Bridge Catalog, an e-commerce platform for the tabletop industry, my role is to train subscribing retailers on how to utilize the platform for better sales. Since wedding registries are the cornerstone of online sales for many independent retailers, I thought I should know what brides are ...

You work hard to get a bride to register at your store. But then the wedding date approaches and nothing has been sold. Why is this? The single biggest reason is that the bride has not linked her wedding website (e.g. theknot.com) to her registry on your website. If the bride doesn't link the two, you'll sell very little. Your mission: link the two. You can read how to do it by clicking the link below or I can call you and walk you through it. My email is: [email protected]
We have put together a checklist of five easy steps. These steps help you and your guests get the most out of your registry with us. The best part: when you complete these steps, we'll give you a gift card! :)
